An Astronaut Training Experience at NASA

Five, four, three, two…lift off!

Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Center’s Astronaut Training Experience Tour was one of the highlights of my family’s recent Spring Break trip to Orlando.  Intended to be an educational ‘adventure,’ I reserved tickets a few weeks prior to the fun-filled week.

The tour began at 10:00 AM, our group excited and energized for the hands-on experience.  We met a professional astronaut, and in her presentation she explained training procedures, shuttle equipment, and described her highly intensive first launch.

Later, we had an opportunity to visit the L39 Observation Gantry’s authentic shuttle and launch pads.  All of the kids were excited at the opportunity to “touch a piece of Mars” during the Exploration of the New Millennium exhibit.  Lunch was served midway through the tour, and afterwards, a visit to the IMAX theater exhibit and Gravity simulator.

After the tour, my fourteen-year old sister expressed her desire to be just like Dr. Mae Jemison and become an astronaut.  I give the Kennedy Space Center’s Astronaut Training Experience Tour a ten, not only for its recreation and innovation, but more importantly, for its ability to inspire and motivate.

Orlando Day Tours to The Kennedy Space Center

When visiting Orlando, there is so much to see and do it can be overwhelming.  If you are interested in the space program, you really should not miss out on a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center.  Tours from Orlando depart daily, and hotel pickup from major hotels is included.

Options include the Kennedy Space Center Tour with transportation from Orlando.  If you want to see extra exhibits, the Ultimate Space Experience from Orlando is another option.  Space Center Tickets with an airboat ride is one of the combination tour options, as well as the Astronaut Lunch.  There is an option for Orlando Transportation only, and multiple Space Shuttle Launch tours.

Many of these tours take the entire day and tickets sell out, so be sure to plan your next vacation in advance.  Shuttle launch tickets are released as soon as NASA announces the launch dates. For more information, please visit Orlando Tours.

Kennedy Space Center - Shuttle Launch Tours and Tickets

NASA has added a shuttle launch in the overnight hours (2:31am) on Tuesday, March 11, 2008.

For this launch, we have organized two different tour and transportation options.  Hotel pickups occur between 7:00 and 8:00pm on Monday, March 10 for both the Regular Shuttle Launch package and the VIP Shuttle Launch package.  Please note, the booking date for this launch is MARCH 10 even though the launch is scheduled to take place in the early morning hours of March 11.

There is no Cocoa Beach Shuttle Launch Viewing trip planned for this added shuttle mission since it occurs in the very early morning hours and the normal Cocoa Beach activities cannot be incorporated at that hour.  Please also be aware that there are some differences from “normal routine” at KSC because the launch time is at such an unusual time.

The tours will depart Orlando on the 10th between 7.30 – 8.30pm, arriving in Kennedy Space Center between 9 – 9.15pm.    Guests can enjoy the Kennedy Space Center and experience the IMAX movies, Shuttle Launch Experience, and the visitor center complex before traveling out to the LTT viewing area around midnight (for those people that book the VIP launch).  After the launch, buses will depart back to Orlando directly.

For more information, please visit Kennedy Space Center Tours or email us directly at info@kennedyspacecentertours.net.
