Halloween Haunts for Hire!

Trick or treat?! We usher in the Fall season with massive planning efforts for Halloween over the coming weeks.  For those who don’t plan on staying home to hand out candy this year, here are a few of the places you can go to get spooked:

Plymouth, Massachusetts: Ghosts, orbs, and grave sites, oh my! On the Fright Night Halloween Ghost Tour in Plymouth, you can get an education on the different types of ghosts that stalk the area around Burial Hill.  Mystery and macabre come together on this lantern-lit walk where you can photograph the area and, later, watch for orbs of light in the developed pictures.

Washington, DC: On another walk, the Georgetown Ghost Walk, you will learn about the ghosts and spirits still haunting our US capital.  A trip through DC’s finest Victorian style neighborhood reveals much about the interesting lives of its now-dead inhabitants as they sometimes reveal themselves in spirit form.

Dallas: Whether you choose a Halloween-themed show like Keith & Margo’s Halloween Mystery Dinner Adventure or to put a different spin on things with the Haunting & Healing Paranormal Event in Dallas, you’re in for a good time for sure.  The dinner show includes an hors d’oeuvres reception, full 3-course sit-down dinner and dessert, and live entertainment in the form of an interactive live action murder mystery where you get to solve the crime and figure out whodunit.  The Haunting & Healing event gives you face time with four paranormal experts, which has been enjoyed by the likes of the queen of England and Dr. Seuss.  The experts channel their unique energy into a powerful grid of light and healing for all to witness.  It is truly a sight to behold.

London: If you happen to be overseas this Halloween, check out the Medieval Halloween Banquet in London.  The Brits do it up right with a celebration of the 500th anniversary of King Henry VIII taking possession of the throne.  Live entertainment, a night of disco, and a four-course banquet menu, along with unlimited beer and wine during the meal, make this a festive event to be enjoyed by all.  Not to mention the cast of characters in full dress, which adds to the delightfully scary atmosphere of it all.

No matter where you go or what you do, be sure to make it a scary day for the record books.  If you would like more information on any of these tours, visit www.Reserve123.com and tour type search for “Halloween.”

A Night of Murder and Mystery in Dallas

For a unique experience, take Keith & Margo’s Ultimate Mystery Dinner Adventure at Old Mill Inn in Dallas.  This interactive show is a great nighttime activity to take loved ones to on a special occasion, and the performers are happy to custom write a part incorporating that into the festivities.  Throughout the night you will conduct an investigation into a fictitious homicide case.  You play a crucial part in the investigation as you evaluate evidence and interrogate suspects.  Of course you can’t be ruled out as a suspect, so you may find yourself being interrogated as well.

During the show you will be served a catered dinner, complete with cash bar and assorted fruit, cheeses, and crackers plus a fresh double entrée and dessert.  Enjoy your fabulous meal but be ready to get back to work solving the crime! You will not want to miss a beat and will enjoy pouring over evidence and comparing your theories about motive.  At the conclusion of the show, everyone will present their theories and the Homicide Detective will expose the murderer after piecing all the details together.  You may even win the Grand Prize if you turn out to be the most accurate and detail-oriented so break out your magnifying glass and get to investigating!

The dress code for this event is upscale casual but do not wear jeans or t-shirts and sneakers. This is an incredible way to spend the evening and is recommended for anyone who is ready to put their ‘thinking caps’ on and decode the mystery.  For more on this activity, visit www.bigdtours.com.

Saddle Up for the Dude Ranch

For the ultimate Western experience while you are in Texas, book the Ranch Stay Western Package in Grandview Texas.  This package includes an overnight stay at the ranch and a full country breakfast.  Lunch is included as well.  Other activities around the ranch include playing horseshoes, paintball laser tag, and stocked pond fishing.  The ranch is situated in an 1880s Western town where you can still see real cowboys herding cattle while on horseback.

After breakfast, you will go on a beautiful trail ride and have a roping lesson or go skeet shooting.  If you have never gone skeet shooting it is worth it to try at least once.  You may be even better at it than you think! Later on you can take a trip over to the adult only lounge to take a break and mingle.

The ranch is only 35 minutes from downtown Fort Worth and Dallas, so it is very convenient but far enough away from the city to give you a real look into cowboy life.  You can stay for more than one night, but ticket prices are per overnight stay.  The kids will love this look into the past and they will get to feel like cowboys for a day.  So, the next time they decide to play Cowboys & Indians they will have more insight into their characters.

Be prepared to have the time of your life on this trip.  There will be dancing, hayrides, cookouts, and horseback riding which are all fun activities for the whole family.  For those bold enough to give it a shot, there is also a mechanical bull to ride.      To book your stay on the ranch, visit www.bigdtours.com and check out all the other fun things to do while you are in the area.

Going on a Goose Hunt in Seymour

Have you ever been on a goose hunt? Probably not that many people in the world can say that they have unless they grew up in an area where it is popular.  This is all the rage in Dallas, and it can truly be an adventure and a learning experience if you are open to it.  When you are staying in the Dallas area, you can travel over to Seymour, which is just under 3 hours from Dallas.  There you will be provided with meals and lodging for the duration of your stay.

The ranch is a great place to get away from it all and to spend some time with friends.  You will have to bring your own equipment and also remember to bring warm clothes since it will get cool at night.  Camouflage is a must so that you can blend in with your surroundings while hunting.  It’s not a typical vacation activity, but that is exactly why you should try it at least once in your life.

Hunts start very early in the morning, between 4:30 and 8:00 am, so this is perfect for the morning people out there. You will enjoy a continental breakfast or a full Texan breakfast which is highly recommended.  In the afternoon you will be served lunch after the hunt and at dinner time you will have a huge selection of cowboy-themed food and delicious meats.  The chef is happy to tailor the menu to your needs provided you give adequate notice, and if you wish, you can even arrange a themed dinner for an additional cost.

If you are deeply involved in hunting already or are just looking to get outside your comfort zone, look into taking this trip.  The food, friendly atmosphere, and opportunity to relax and enjoy nature make this a trip to remember.  For more information on activities like this, visit www.bigdtours.com.

Living it Up in D-Town

Dallas is the third-largest city in Texas and the ninth-largest city in the US.  It is home to the Dallas Cowboys and the well-known Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.  When traveling to the Dallas area, it is a great idea to plan ahead and book spaces on some of the many tours and activities offered.  You can take an adventure tour, go duck hunting, or fly over the area in a helicopter.  The possibilities go on and on.

Or, for a romantic twist, take your partner on a Classic Gondola Ride in Dallas.  The ride will take an hour, and this is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your loved one on an anniversary or any other day.  For an added touch, you can pay to have a personalized message in a bottle made, and it will appear next to your partner at some point during the cruise.

Other travel ideas include goose, turkey, and hog hunting in Seymour, Texas and a visit to a Texas dude ranch.  With so many country western themed activities, you will truly feel like a cowboy or cowgirl by the end of your trip! Just remember to bring along your own gear on the hunting excursions and, as always, have a rootin’ tootin’ good time!
