Flexible Trolley Tours in San Antonio

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

If you haven’t had the chance to visit the most visited city in Texas, now is your chance.  San Antonio has plenty to do, so it makes sense that there are a number of organized tours and activities to keep you busy throughout your stay.

For a wonderful overview of the city, take the San Antonio Trolley Tour.  This one-hour narrated tour takes you all around San Antonio to the most popular and historical landmarks including the Alamo, where American defenders fell at the hands of Mexican General Santa Anna’s army.  The IMAX Theatre is another stop on the tour, so you can relive the Battle of the Alamo on the big screen with “Alamo…the Price of Freedom.”

The trolley makes several other stops along the way, including the Institute of Texan Cultures, Mission San Jose, Market Square, and Mission Concepcion.  This is by no means an exhaustive list, and if you are in the mood for a little shopping, you can take advantage of the stop at Rivercenter Mall.

If you wish to upgrade your tour, you can take part in the 2-day hop on and hop off option, which allows you to explore the city at your leisure.  You can pick up the trolleys every 45 minutes or so at designated spots so you can continue to see the sights that you choose until the end of operating hours.
