One Direction Lands in NYC

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

A couple weeks ago, Madame Tussauds in London unveiled three new Michael Jackson figures, and unlike some statues in other wax museums, the replicas are incredibly lifelike.

Well… it seems their family across the pond is trying to top that exhibit, because the latest traveling set has just arrived to New York City: One Direction! The British Natives have recently taken over American top-40 airwaves and have won the hearts of teenage fangirls across the land. Now, their wax figures are ready to win your affections. The representation of Harry Styles is almost indistinguishable from the real thing (above image, front row, second to last on the far right), and Zayn, Louis, Liam and Niall look pretty darn good, too.

“In New York, concrete jungle
where dreams are made of
There’s nothin’ you can’t do
Now you’re in New York
These streets will make you
feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Let’s hear it for New York,
New York, New York”

I think that Alicia Keys and Jay-Z summed it up pretty well. New York really is like being on another planet; a great melting pot of culture, design, architecture, and attitude.

My brother and I visited NYC a few years ago, and had a great time sightseeing in the city and visiting the Empire State Building. For my first visit to New York, I decided to go with a classic – the New York Classic Double Decker Tour, to be precise – to gain a nice overview of New York City and Manhattan.

It’s easy to get lost in the endless sights and sounds and lights everywhere, and this tour covers the major sightseeing spots and landmarks of the city.

You will enjoy the best sights in Manhattan during the day and at night, with unlimited hop-on, hop-off service at over 40 stops on our double decker bus. There is an Uptown Loop, Downtown Loop, Brooklyn Loop, and The Night Loop, and your pass is good for 48 hours to use as you wish.

Plus, this fun-filled tour includes a ticket for the ferry to the Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island AND admission ticket to either the Empire State Building or the Top of the Rock Observation Deck. What more could you ask for? Well, stopping for pizza along the way of course, if you’re like me. 8)

The Visa Black Card
Traveling with kids to the Big Apple sometimes requires creative planning, especially when looking for something unique to do that doesn’t involve endless hours of walking as tourist trips often do.  Since children are often easily bored, you will need something that can hold a child’s attention but that will not last all day.  Luckily, there are plenty of options in the city that can fit both your interests and your schedule.

Tours run every half hour from 11:00 am – 3:30 pm so you are able to pick the time that works best for your group.  I will point out, however, that helicopter tours in New York book up fast.  It is best to plan well in advance of your trip so your dates of choice will not be sold out.  You definitely don’t want to miss out on this once in a lifetime experience!

Visit www.NYTours.us for more info on this tour and many amazing others.

New York Bateaux Dinner Cruise Experience

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

If you are looking for something really unique and entertaining to do in New York City, look no further than the New York Bateaux Dinner Cruise.  These boat tours around Manhattan are available for lunch cruises, dinner cruises, and holiday cruises.

Bateaux Cruises

We enjoyed this dinner cruise last month during our visit to NYC.  The food was great and the view was simply amazing everywhere you looked.  Overall, I would rate the experience a 9.5 (a highlight of our holiday) because of the attention to detail provided by the staff.  They were excellent!

The ship cruised along the Hudson River and East River.  We were able to see all of Manhattan from the deck, including the Empire State Building.  We also saw the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, the site of the World Trade Center, Battery Park City, South Street Seaport, and a number of other famous landarks around the city.

Statue of Liberty

Since we saw the Statue of Liberty at night, we decided that we wanted to go back during the day.  We got our Statue of Liberty Tickets online and that was another highlight of our vacation.  I highly recommend that you experience both tours since they provided two completely different perspecives of Ellis Island and the Statue.
