Go Take A Hiking Tour!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Enjoy a variety of hiking trips worldwide!

Everyone knows that exercise is excellent for you. Research shows that exercise helps to fend off heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, burns calories, alleviates depression, keeps your mind sharp, and can even slow the aging process. But really — how enticing is the treadmill?? Do you really want to see some of the unsightly spandex in the gym? How about the stuffy space? How about paying exorbitant amounts for such self-punishment? I’ll take a gamble at a “no” there. Why “tune out” with more escapist TV and music while you tone your tendons? Personally, I would rather “tune in” to nature, the smell of flowers and trees, the view of mountains and forests and waterfalls, and getting back in touch with your thoughts and surroundings. And if you’re the super-adrenaline-daring type, hiking up mountains is a major calorie annihilator! There are better ways to get and stay in shape, get some FRESH air, and have a great time than becoming the proverbial hamster in a wheel, travel friends. I’ll even give you permission to blare Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” in your eardrums, if you need some extra motivation to get moving. Give yourself a REAL escape – lace up your hiking boots and go take a Hiking Tour!

Enjoy tours and activities in Ashville and the Smoky Mountains

The Smoky Mountains are a subrange of the Appalachian Mountains, and form part of Blue Ridge. “Smoky” derives from the natural fog that often hangs over the range, most common in the morning and after rainfall, and is the result of warm humid air from the Gulf of Mexico cooling rapidly in the higher mountain elevations. From rogue desperados to Art Deco architects, Asheville and the Smoky Mountains offer a wealth of beautiful scenery, activities, and a lofty new perspective to the adventurous traveler.

Coming to the mountains is one of the authentic experiences in life, like going to the sea. It brings you closer to nature, and to yourself. Hit the trails for a full day of fun exploring Chimney Rock ParkThe Park features more than 3.5 miles of nature trails. Here, you’ll have an opportunity to see rare and indigenous plants, unusual geological formations and a variety of native wildlife. The trails range in difficulty from easy to strenuous. Whether you want a leisurely stroll, a challenging hike or something fun and interactive for the kids, Chimney Rock Park has the perfect trail for you. Most trails are open all year, weather permitting. From unique geological formations to sweeping views, you’ll find the best of the mountains in one place at Chimney Rock Park.

Being outdoors – in nature – nourishes the soul. There’s no better way to take the plunge than Whitewater RaftingOne of the world’s oldest rivers, the French Broad winds through Pisgah National Forest in the mountains of North Carolina. The whitewater section, located near Walnut, N.C., is convenient to Asheville, a popular destination, as well as Hot Springs, a charming mountain town. Class II-III French Broad rafting offers families a perfect introduction to whitewater. The French Broad trip offers raft and duck (inflatable kayaks) options, depending on water levels. Our full day trip include a picnic lunch and eight miles of rafting!

The Brave of Spirit may also venture upon the Asheville Haunted Ghost Tour. Join us as we take a leisurely stroll and search along the shadowy streets of downtown Asheville, to hear stories of the unexplained and the strange. Hear about haunted buildings in the downtown area, about a brutal murder that occurred here and the young victim that still haunts the building it occurred in. Learn about the old county jail where six legal hangings and several lynchings occurred and how those spirits terrorized the inmates and jailors one night. Listen to a true and bizarre story that started in Asheville and concluded in Florida, and much more.

For more activities and fun things to do, visit us at Smoky Mountains Tours. From dinner cruises to architectural tours to hiking adventures to acrobat shows, we really do have it all. Need hotel reservations? From luxury hotels to cozy Bed & Breakfasts, our Asheville Hotel Directory offers an excellent selection to choose from. Questions? Summer Special Hawaiian Style! Save 10% + Free Shipping at Coffees of Hawaii. Promo Code: COFFEE10 - 468x60

Aloha travel friends! Let me tell you a little secret… There’s no better way to celebrate the May flowers than donning a gorgeous, aromatic Lei in Honolulu. Now is the perfect time to beat the crowds and the rising temperatures with the ultimate tropical escape – that’s right, it could only be Hawaii. Summer is right around the bend, and there are TONS of exciting Eco tours from Honolulu for you to do! Get off the concrete and discover the gorgeous natural beauty of the Islands. You’ll be glad you did, and remember your adventures for years to come. From active volcanoes to hidden waterfalls, pristine beaches to incredible mountain views in the clouds, swimming with sea turtles to zip-lining through the rainforest, Honolulu really is an Eco Paradise.

The Hawaiian Islands, located at center of the Ring of Fire, are formed entirely of volcanoes, one of the most destructive natural forces on earth. Everyone knows how deadly volcanoes can be. But did you know the benefits of them? Many volcanic materials are very beneficial to nature and human life – lava that is continuously forming new landmasses and islands, diamonds and other precious gemstones, generating geothermal energy, volcanic rocks used for making roads, natural glass from lava (pumice), volcanic ash that is rich in nutrients and greatly improves soil fertility, and carbon dioxide and hydrogen released into the earth’s atmosphere that begin the processes of photosynthesis and the water cycle. Volcanoes have a delicate balance with nature – fire & water, death & life, ashes & lush vegitation. Hawaii is one of the greatest mysteries of the universe. See these marvels up-close for yourself on our Eco adventure tours!

My first recommendation has to be our Big Island Grand Circle Island Volcano Adventure from Honolulu. Not only will you see the magnificent ancient Banyan trees, coffee farms, and Orchid and Anthurium Nursery of Hilo, but you will also get to see the beautiful 80 foot tall and almost 100 foot wide Rainbow Falls. Then the highlight of the tour – a visit to the world famous Kilauea Volcano, which has been steadily erupting since the 1980′s. Your tour guide will entertain and educate as you explore the Volcano National Park, the Jaggar Museum, Thurston Lava Tube, Fern Tree Jungle, Kilauea Iki Crater, and more. Don’t forget your camera on this fantastic tour, or you might just cry. And then have to buy another one. Don’t miss this amazing adventure in Hawaii!

My second recommendation is our Mauka to Makai: Zipline, Kayak, Snorkel & Eco Hike with Lunch from Honolulu. See Oahu the way that you have always dreamed of during a thrilling Eco-adventure on the Windward coast of Oahu. Hiking through the rainforest of the Ko’olau Mountains, soaring above the trees of Oahu’s valley, and kayaking through the crystal clear waters of the Pacific are all included in this fun-filled day trip! Your expert ecologist is devoted to showing off the unique life that exists only in Hawaii’s climate. This popular tour sells out well in advance, so reserve early.

On our Ultimate Circle Island Eco Adventure with Lunch from Honolulu, you’ll get to see Hawaii’s wide variety of wildlife with stops at a Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle basking grounds and bird watching at native Hawaiian wetlands. Your professional tour guide will share information about the many different plants, birds, and animals that call Hawaii home. Designed to both entertain and educate, this tour will expose you to Oahu’s raw natural beauty with stops off the beaten path. You will also visit Byodo-In Temple, enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch, see famous lookouts and beaches of Oahu, hike Waimea Valley and enjoy a refreshing waterfall swim!

No matter what you wish to do in Honolulu, Aloha Tours is proud to be your source for sightseeing tours and attractions on the Islands of Hawaii. We offer tours and activities on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, The Big Island, Lanai, Molokai, and Molokini. Indulge in some of the best foods in the world, take in some sun in this tropical climate, and enjoy a never ending array of things to see and do. Call us toll-free for assistance with booking your trip today. Ho’olu komo la kaua – please join us!

Salt Lake City Sights and Sounds

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

When you are looking for a trip that satisfies the wants and needs of the entire family, make your way over to Salt Lake City, Utah.   The city is not only the home of Brigham Young University, the Utah Jazz, and the 2002 Winter Olympics, but it is also a great spot for hiking, rafting, and ballooning.

One tour that provides an excellent value is the Paiute Trail Resort – Combo ATV Tour/ Whitewater Rafting Trip, which departs from Marysville, Utah.  On this wild water adventure, your raft will slice through the waters of the Sevier River as you admire your surroundings, which include the lush forests, giant pine trees, and surging waterfalls around Marysville Canyon.  The scenery is unimaginably beautiful and seeing it all from the water is one of the best ways to take it all in.

The other half of your time on this trip is filled by an incredible ATV tour along the Paiute ATV Trail in Southern Utah.  The trail covers 275 miles, plus some side trails that will take you to neighboring towns.  As you make your way around the loop, you will cross the Fishlake National Forest and land that is governed by the Bureau of Land Management.  These old roads were eventually connected up to form the Trail System that exists today.

While you will be riding in an ATV, this trip is intended to be laid-back and relaxed since high-speed racing and off-roading can be damaging to the land.  You will get to see the Tushar Mountains, Miner’s Park – where you will see some interesting artifacts from back in the early mining days – and several swelling waterfalls.  Take a minute to listen to the sounds of the water rushing down, as it tends to have a very calming effect on the body.

This action-packed tour is the perfect balance of relaxation and excitement, and this day-long adventure is one that is not to be missed.  However, there are many other activities at your disposal in Salt Lake City.  For more ways to spend your Utah vacation, visit

A Comprehensive Look at Palm Springs

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Palm Springs Tours provides the perfect way to see the beautiful Palm Springs area with minimal fuss.  Bus tours, which are readily available to travelers, are a fantastic option for those who wish to let someone else navigate while they take everything in.

The Palm Springs Extended City Tour by Bus is one such tour.  For two and a half hours, you will tour the gorgeous city as you listen to a fully narrated informational program.  The tour takes you past the residences of some of Palm Springs’ most rich and famous, including Elvis Presley, Liberace, and Frank Sinatra.  You will also pass through Rancho Mirage, which has been frequented by many presidents – including Gerald Ford – during their vacations.  Cathedral City will be a featured location as well; this series of rock formations got its name from Henry Washington when he described them as resembling a cathedral.

For a shortened version of this tour, consider the Palm Springs City Tour by Bus, which shows you an abbreviated view of the area.  This tour is also fully narrated and will give you a great overview of Palm Springs in general when you are pressed for time.

Once you have had the chance to see Palm Springs on the ground, you should definitely take the Aerial Tramway, which is considered a major wonder of the engineering industry.  The tramway is the largest rotating tramcar system in the world.  The engineer who conceived of the idea had one particular goal, which was “to go up there where it’s nice and cool.”  In 1963 the tramway was opened, and since then over 12 million people have experienced the view overlooking the Coachella Valley.  Visitors are lifted up over 2000 feet in the air to the Mountain Station at 8,516 feet high.

The unique rotating tramcar allows you an incredible aerial view from the mountains with a chance to see everything from many vantage points.  This is an experience to savor, since it is not often that you get such a complete view of an area.  Once you reach the top of the mountain, you have the chance to shop, dine, and just enjoy the scenery.  In warmer seasons, you can also take the hiking trails and enjoy the picnic areas and campgrounds.  During the winter, you can go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.

Whether you choose to see Palm Springs from above or on land, you are in for a unique and exciting experience.  To book your tour or evaluate other appealing options, visit

Living the Simple Life in Durango

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Durango, Colorado is the ideal destination for outdoor enthusiasts.  Known for its hiking, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, rock climbing, and several other activities, it is the quintessential vacation spot for active individuals.  Jeep tours, perhaps one of the best ways to see this gorgeous area, allow you to go off the beaten path and see everything out in the open air.  Because of this, you are able to engage many of your senses in addition to the obvious, sight.  You can take Jeep tours at sunset for an added romantic tone, or you can explore during the day for several different intervals of time depending on your personal schedule.

If you are anxious to really be in the thick of it, join a horseback riding excursion for a few days up close and personal with nature.  The Continental Divide Horseback Ride lasts eight days and takes you almost 100 miles, following a trail from the Weminuche Wilderness to Silverton, Colorado.  All travel in this area is restricted to foot or horseback, so you will enjoy a more simple existence for the duration of the trip.  You will see the positive effect that the lack of mass transportation has had on preservation efforts.  The land is beautiful and unspoiled, dotted with lakes, streams, and high alpine basins.

Another option for the adventurer in you is the High Country Lake & Fishing Trip.  Lasting seven days, you will stay in comfortable accommodations, with each tent equipped with cots and padding.  Some of the wildlife you will see along the way includes elk, black bear, blue grouse, and mule deer.   You will also go fly fishing in the Pine River as part of your trip along the continental divide.

As you can see, Durango is the perfect area to visit if the idea of being close to nature and taking in the sights from up close excites you.  Check out for even more options and ideas to make your trip one that will remain in your memory for a long time to come.
