Reserve123 In Europe

Wednesday, November 21st, 2012

Are you on Instagram? If not, you should truly join. For those visually-driven social media users, Instagram is a Godsend. Twitter is for those of us who have something to say to the world; Instagram is for those of us who have something to show the world, and unlike Pinterest, the content is (usually) created by the user. If you’ve ever sat alone in a nice, little park for lunch and thought, “I wish I could share this moment with someone,” you need Instagram.

The Reserve123 team is all over the map, and most recently, Nikita spent some time in Europe. She was kind enough to take us on her photo journey via Instagram, and my goodness, ’twas a beautiful journey!

Gaudi: In Case You Needed A Reason to Visit Barcelona

Friday, October 19th, 2012

Gaudi’s symbolic salamader in Parc Güell

Maybe you’ve heard of Antoni Gaudi, and you may or may not be familiar with his creative brilliance, but we’d like to help you get (re)acquainted. A native of Spain, Gaudi studied architecture in the late 1800s, and legend has it that his peers and professors weren’t sure whether he was a fool or a genius. Well, thankfully for us, Mr. Gaudi let his work speak for him, and he was clearly determined to tell the world that he was no fool.

Worked well for me. Viagra australia! The most professional care at the world-class pharmaceutical factories of India.

His style of artistry has been coined as Catalan Modernism, and there really are no words that accurately express its beauty. You’ll have to check it out for yourself! These days, Antoni Gaudi’s works are regarded as individualistic and extremely distinct – his inspirations derived from his passion for architecture, the natural world, his faith and love for Catalonia.

La Sagrada Familia Cathedral, Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece

We’ve got a few options if you’re looking for a guided experience through the goodness. The Artistic Barcelona Tour explores Gaudi, Modernism, and Gothic structures throughout the city, so you’ll get a taste of each style. You’ll start by walking along Paseo de Gracia, to see Gaudi’s famous apartment buildings, which include Casa Batllo and La Pedrera. It also includes a visit to Gaudi’s bizarre Parc Guell, which has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Careful, you may get willingly lost in the whimsical design of this bizarre but compelling public park.

Those interested in something more focussed on Gaudi’s contribution to the Catalan culture might like the Gaudi Walk & Wine Tasting. Did I mention it includes wine tasting? That’s right, you’ll take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Barcelona, soaking in the beauty and absorbing new knowledge of each location, and to conclude, you’ll be invited to savor the aromas and enjoy the full embrace of the flavor of the region’s star wines while basking in the hospitality of a traditional Catalan restaurant. The groups are always small and intimate, so you might even make a few new friends along the way! (Cheers)

We’ve got other activities that include some of Gaudi’s architecture, so feel free to check here for other options. Hopefully you’ll be as artistically stimulated as we are by his works.

Happy travels!

Lucerne by Patty926

Lucerne is located in North-Central Switzerland and is the capital of the Canton of Lucerne. It is the most populous city in Central Switzerland and is a tourist favorite, ranking #5 on the list of the most popular tourism destination. A small and quirky city, Lucerne has something for everyone. The Fasnacht is a carnival before  Lent where ‘march any direction you like’ parades happen all over the city. The city also has a number museums like The Swiss Transport Museum and The Rosengart Collection. The Lucerne Blues Festival is coming up next month (Nov. 5 – 14) with international artists celebrating the long forgotten art of the blues.

Lake Lucerne is one of the most scenic lakes in the world, with beautiful rolling mountains surrounding a very uniquely shaped body of water. It’s an experience to remember while either driving or hiking around the lake. Lake Lucerne borders three Swizaz cantons – Schwyz, Uri, and Unterwalden- with each city having a portion of the lake named after their respected location.  This 44 square mile lake is known for it’s beauty and has a number of resorts along its shores.

Fun fact about Lake Lucerne: Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata gets its name from music critic Ludwig Rellstab’s description of the first movement, that it’s like moonlight shining upon Lake Lucerne.

London: A Trip That’s Fit for a Queen

Monday, November 24th, 2008

London, England is a wonderful place to visit whether you grew up in Europe or elsewhere.  As soon as you enter the confines of the city, you realize that it is strikingly different from the rest of Europe.  In fact, many Brits do not consider themselves to be part of Europe at all.  England is centrally located so it is quite easy to hop on a plane and arrive at another European location in a short period of time.  With budget airlines like easyJet and Ryanair, it is not only convenient but cost efficient as well.

Your first time in London you might feel a little overwhelmed with all that there is to see and do.  That is, unless you enlist the help of a reputable touring company to assist you in setting your travel itinerary.  There are a few things that everyone would agree should be on the agenda:

Changing of the Guard – This is one of the mainstays that London is most known for.  On the Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace & Changing of the Guard Tour you will visit Buckingham Palace, the London residence of the Queen and witness the ceremonial changing of the guard who stands watch at the palace entrance.  You may even see the colorful flag, known as the Royal Standard, which means that the Queen is at home.

Westminster Abbey – This famous church is the burial place for many aristocrats, monks, and poets as well as kings and queens.  Among those laid to rest, some of the most recognizable names are William Shakespeare, John Keats, Elizabeth I, and Laurence Olivier.  If you have the time, be sure to make the journey up to the top and look down for an unbeatable view of the entire structure.  You can also attend a church service if you happen to be in the right place at the right time.  The echoing of the organ and the overall vibe of this gorgeous building make it a must-see location on your trip.

Crown Jewels – If you take the Historic & Modern London Tour, one of the stops on your journey will be at the Tower of London.  This has been the home of the Crown Jewels since 1303 when they were stolen from Westminster Abbey.  They are currently held in the part of the Tower called Jewel House, where they are open to the public for viewing during specified hours for a fee.  This stop, however, is included in the price of the Historic & Modern London Tour should you decide to take advantage of it.  Among the goodies you will see are beautifully adorned crowns, swords, orbs, and scepters once worn by British royalty.

Liverpool – For those devoted Beatles fans out there, Liverpool is a definite must.  The Beatles and Liverpool Tour highlights many of the locations critical to the Beatles’ journey to stardom.  You will take the train from Euston Station to Liverpool where you will be introduced to the Beatles’ history via the Magical Mystery Tour.  You will also have time to shop around, visit the Beatles Story exhibition, and stop at galleries and pubs along the way.

If you are unsure what else to do while you are in London, and to book a space on one of these amazing tours, visit www.londonenglandtours.net.  If you book your tickets online you will save $5 per adult ticket.  That’s 5 more dollars that you can be spending on souvenirs!
