The Music City Weekend Vacation Package provides a wonderful balance between activities devoted exclusively to music and those that cover the overall sightseeing experience.  When you arrive on Friday night, you will enjoy an evening with the talented stars of country music at the Grand Ole Opry.  Depending on the day, you can expect to see new and rising stars or legendary performers of the past and present.  Then, on Saturday morning, you will set out on the Nashville City Tour where you will be introduced to Nashville’s most famous sights before being let loose to do some shopping and exploring on your own.

Saturday night is reserved for a ride aboard the General Jackson for a dinner cruise and show.  “Country Music USA” is the show that is currently running, and it can be seen from mid-March through mid-November.   Accommodations during your weekend stay will be provided by either the Sheraton Music City or Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Resort, and packages can be reserved with or without hotel pick-up for the Friday night Opry performance.

To see Nashville from a different perspective, consider booking the Rhinestone Cowboy Music City Weekend Vacation Package.  On your first evening in town, you will start out with a driving tour through downtown before you go and check out some of the hottest clubs in the area.  Enjoy a complimentary drink and settle in at Legends Corner, your honky tonk headquarters for the night.

On Saturday morning, you will take a tour of the homes of some of country music’s biggest stars including Dolly Parton, Martina McBride, and Trisha Yearwood.  With a drive through the neighborhoods of the rich and famous, you will get a taste of the places these stars call home.  Finally, on Saturday night you are in for a treat with the “A Cowboy Town Wild West Show & Campfire Supper.”  In between activities, you will relax in style at the Sheraton Music City.

When you are in the mood to have a leisurely day taking in the scenery, the Deluxe Little Manatee River Canoe or Kayak Trip is just what you need.  You can float down the river at your own pace while you soak up the beautiful surroundings and take some time to appreciate the wildlife that you see around you.  Some of the animals you might see on your trip are manatees, turtles, fish, birds, and alligators.  You may also spot some hogs, otters, and deer along the way so keep an eye out!  Towards the middle of your day, you can go fishing, check out the lay of the land, or stop off for a waterside picnic.

In Tampa, the activities don’t stop just because the sun goes down.  If you are still in the mood for some action, check out one of the dinner cruises on offer.  A fantastic combination of fine dining and entertainment, these cruises are a definite crowd pleaser and an excellent chance to check out the sights without braving the city traffic.  Similar trips are available at lunch time as well if that is more to your liking.

Get a History Lesson in Washington, DC

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

Just because the inauguration has come and gone does not mean that there is no longer a reason to visit Washington, DC.  Why not take a trip to this historical city at your leisure and explore it from the inside out to see what really makes it tick? With DC Tours, you have many different opportunities to do just that, with lunch and dinner cruises, night tours, and historical tours at your disposal.

If you are looking for a general overview of the city, take the Washington DC Hop-On-Hop-Off Open-Top Double-Decker Bus Tour.  With 25 stops throughout DC, there are lots of opportunities to get off the bus and walk around.  You can rejoin the tour at any time, and your ticket is good for two days with unlimited use during that time.  Should you decide to take the trip straight through, it will take you about two and a half hours in total.  Some of the stops along the way include Union Station, the US Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Ford’s Theatre, Arlington National Cemetery, Embassy Row, and many others.  You can even follow the loop completely through once to get the lay of the land and then pick it up again later or the next day to revisit the stops of your choice.

As you can imagine, the city looks completely different during the day than it does at night.  That is where the Washington DC After Dark Tour comes in.  Your coach will take you to many of the sights listed above, but this time you will see them, quite literally, in a whole new light.  You will stop to check out the FDR and Vietnam Memorials, the nation’s Capitol building, the White House, and all the other structures that have become a significant part of US history, all shining brightly amid the backdrop of the night sky.

Once you have seen the basic layout of the city, you are ready to step inside some of the historicalbuildings that make up the landscape, and you can do this on the Washington DC Interior Buildings Tour.  While you will take a drive past the FBI Building, Washington Monument, and the Supreme Court, you can actually venture inside the World War II Memorial, National Air and Space Museum, the US Capitol and other well-known landmarks, making your experience that much richer.

While you may have missed seeing the new President get sworn in this month, that doesn’t mean you should miss out on experiencing the history and fun that awaits you in Washington, DC altogether.  Take a trip to the city this winter and you will be very glad that you did.  For more information, visit and book your tickets today!

Endless Opportunities in Shytown

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Chicago is a city with unlimited options, so why should your sightseeing experience be any different?  If you are open to the possibilities, there is a wide array of tours and cruises that will show you exactly what Chicago is all about.  Hop On & Hop Off Trolley Tours are a favorite among travelers, as this affords the opportunity to see only the sights that are of particular interest to you and skip those that don’t spark as much enthusiasm.

Another popular way to see the city is via one of the amazing architecture tours.  With guided commentary given by talented professionals in the architecture industry, you will be informed and entertained throughout the duration of your trip.  Elegant dinner cruises along Lake Michigan give you additional opportunities to marvel at the great skyscrapers and enjoy a romantic night under the stars.

Tours of the Chicago skyline by boat offer an up close and personal view of some of Chicago’s finest lakefront sights in a comprehensive 30 minute format and many of these cruises run year-round so you can plan early for the spring and summer months or hop on board much sooner.  Famous points of interest include the Sears Tower, Shedd Aquarium, and Field Museum of Natural History.

With all that there is to see in Chicago, it is easy to see that it is a trip worth making at any time of year, so you don’t need to wait until the summer to take a walking tour to see the historic skyscrapers or scour the city for a bargain on a shopping tour.

If you are in Chicago at Christmastime, check out the Chicago Holiday Lights Tour and see how beautiful the ‘Windy City’ can look as it is illuminated and decked out with festive holiday decorations.  As part of the trip, you will stop at the German Christkindlmarket, the largest traditional German holiday market outside of Germany itself.

As you plan your next trip, keep an eye on for travel ideas, tours, transportation services, and private charters.

Spending a Night in ‘Gateway City’

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Newark is the most populated city in New Jersey.  At about 5 miles west of Manhattan and 2 miles north of Staten Island, it is centrally located and allows for easy access to the Tri-State area which consists of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.  Newark is a transportation hub, with its significant air, rail, road, and ship traffic, and it is a major gateway into the Northeastern portion of the United States as a whole.  Because of this, the city has become aptly known as ‘Gateway City.’ The city of Newark is in an optimal location for workday commuters to New York City and the Philadelphia area is easily accessible as well.  For that reason, many decide to dwell in the Newark area as a more cost-efficient alternative to living within the borders of New York City itself.

There have been a lot of rebuilding and revitalization efforts put forth in the Newark area.  The New Jersey Performing Arts Center has brought in an estimated 1.6 million people since its opening in 1997.  The facility, which cost $180 million, has helped to breathe new life into a city that was once on the decline.  The construction of the structure sparked a building spike in the area, including the creation of Riverfront Stadium, home of the Newark Bears, and the Prudential Center for the New Jersey Devils.  The Passaic River waterfront is also being redone so that it will soon provide direct access to the river.

For a night out with the family, catch a show at Medieval Times.  This show provides fun for all ages and is a great activity to do whether you are new to the area or have lived there for most of your life.  Another nighttime option is to make your way into Manhattan for a Broadway show or catch the City Lights Dance Party Cruise from New York.  This is a very popular option for many, as the balanced combination of music and sights makes for a very pleasant cruising experience.

As you can see, there is a lot more on offer in Newark than perhaps anyone would have initially thought.  To see a complete list of activities and tours available in the area, check out

Family Fun in Fort Myers

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Fort Myers was built in 1850 as a military fort to hold off the Seminole Indians that were massacring the few settlers that inhabited the area.  There are a number of tours offered in the Fort Myers area, with boats and safaris departing from Fort Myers daily.  Travelers to the area can take a swamp tour to the Everglades, catch a boat shuttle to Key West, or join a Dinner Dance Cruise from St. Petersburg Beach.  No matter what the occasion or interest, Fort Myers has an activity to meet the need and its tropical climate makes the attractions accessible year-round.

For a spin on a more traditional cruise, travelers can climb aboard the Pirate Cruise from Clearwater for 2 hours of family fun and adventure set to the music of a steel band.  On board the ship, there are several fully costumed pirates and other characters, which add to the overall experience.  Children can get their faces painted and adults can take advantage of the full service bar to purchase an alcoholic beverage.  Another option is to take this cruise at night, via the Pirate Champagne Sunset Cruise from Clearwater.  The Dixieland Jazz Lunch Cruise from St. Petersburg Beach is another cruise offering music on board.  On this cruise, guests listen to live Dixieland jazz while cruising the Boca Ciega Bay.

Those who wish to set out on their own can rent a single, tandem, or glass bottom kayak to explore the bay and go fishing or have a romantic day with a loved one.  There is room on the kayaks for supplies and food, and the sport models have the capability of an add-on seat for 2 children.  For a great time, pack up a picnic lunch and head out on the water for a day of fun with the family where you can call the shots and take as much time as you need.

Louisville, a City of Many Faces

Friday, October 17th, 2008

There is plenty to do in Louisville, Kentucky with an activity to satisfy every need.  You can visit one of the city’s museums and galleries, stop by Louisville Waterfront Park, or check out a show at the Kentucky Center.  For a city with so much to see, what could be better than a tour to show it all to you just as you want it?

You can take the Ghost Bus Tour for a look at area ‘haunts,’ if you will.  The tour will take you on a ride through the settings of the bestselling books ‘Ghosts of Old Louisville’ and ‘Phantoms of Old Louisville,’ both penned by David Domine.  For a look at the area on foot, why not take the Ghost Walking Tour?  Offered on Friday evenings, this tour takes you into the alleys of Old Louisville which are illuminated by gas-operated lanterns.  This area encompasses a charming Victorian district with 19th century buildings and an eery, quiet feeling that surrounds you as you enter.

To get more of a background on the beautiful architecture, take the Old Louisville Historical District Walking Tour and pay homage to the talented designers who dreamt up this magnificent area.  Not only will you get to see their work up close, but you will get to hear stories and legends about the Preservation District from knowledgeable guides who will make this space come alive for you through their detailed accounts.

For a truly romantic and customizable experience, why not take a loved one on a Carriage Tour of the city? You can ride through Olmsted Park to the Historic Ohio River Waterfront or check out the St. James Court area.  Or, you can ride in style to dinner and a show.  No matter where you decide to go, this is absolutely the best way to appreciate the gorgeous scenery and enjoy some fresh air.

Last, but certainly not least, you can take a ride on the Star Riverboat for a relaxing afternoon or evening enjoying the scenery as well as a delicious brunch, lunch, or dinner.  Many believe that there is no better way to see the city than from the water, and they may be right.  This cruise is a terrific way to simply sit back and absorb the beauty of your surroundings.
