Trips Around Lady Liberty

Hotwire

The Statue of Liberty is, perhaps, the most recognizable American symbol of freedom and opportunity and is among one of the first things visitors and immigrants see upon entering America from overseas. It was presented to the United States by France in 1886 and commemorates the centennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. To this day, it remains a major tourist attraction and draws large crowds year round.

Tourists flock to Ellis Island, site of the famous Statue of Liberty National Monument, to learn about its operation as a federal immigration station from 1892 to 1954.There are many options to choose from when you are planning on visiting the Statue. You can either purchase stand-alone tickets or combine a tour of the National Monument with tickets to another tour or attraction such as the New York Sightseeing Tour, the most popular tour in New York.

There are many ways to incorporate the Statue of Liberty into your plans, as an add-on to another activity including various helicopter tours of New York, cruises around the city, and double-decker bus tours. For example, the New York New York Sightseeing Tour plus Statue of Liberty provides you with a great opportunity to walk through Chinatown, Little Italy, Battery Park, and Greenwich Village in addition to driving past several well-known and highly regarded New York locations.

This tour lasts about 5 hours and includes round-trip tickets to the ferry and admission to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It is offered in English and Spanish and for those who are not as fluent in English, additional tours are offered in German, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Italian. This tour provides an excellent value, plenty of photo ops, and a full day of entertainment and education.

The Visa Black Card
Traveling with kids to the Big Apple sometimes requires creative planning, especially when looking for something unique to do that doesn’t involve endless hours of walking as tourist trips often do.  Since children are often easily bored, you will need something that can hold a child’s attention but that will not last all day.  Luckily, there are plenty of options in the city that can fit both your interests and your schedule.

Tours run every half hour from 11:00 am – 3:30 pm so you are able to pick the time that works best for your group.  I will point out, however, that helicopter tours in New York book up fast.  It is best to plan well in advance of your trip so your dates of choice will not be sold out.  You definitely don’t want to miss out on this once in a lifetime experience!

Visit www.NYTours.us for more info on this tour and many amazing others.

A Unique Spin on Traditional Tours

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Ready to roll but tired of taking the same old wheels? Try out one of the many nontraditional tour offerings on your next trip to New York, San Diego, or Los Angeles.  Get out of the habit of the same old thing and start the new year off with a new mode of transportation.  With Reserve123, the options are endless.

On your next trip to New York, consider seeing the city in the comfort of a classic convertible.  You will be the talk of the town and will make heads turn as you cruise through the city streets with the top down.  On the Deluxe Private New York Tour, which runs from May through October and is taken in a classic convertible, your 1975 Chevrolet Caprice will take you to the historic West Village, across the Brooklyn Bridge, and to the Brooklyn Heights Promenade where you can catch the perfect view of the Manhattan skyline.

Another convertible tour that is available is the Classic Car Tour from Los Angeles.  This is a great option for trips in the winter since temperatures in Los Angeles don’t often dip much lower than 50°F.  L.A. also enjoys about 263 sunny days a year and rain is less frequent than in other parts of the country.  You will ride in a classic Cadillac convertible as your tour guide makes sure you get to see all the right spots and learn more about the area to get the most out of your trip.

For a fancy twist on the limousine, take the Los Angeles Limo Tour and see all the best places inTinseltown.  Your vehicle, which is actually a 24-passenger super stretch Hummer, comes equipped with color TV and VCR, complimentary bar, stereo and CD player, wraparound leather seats, and a sun or moon  roof.  You can also request free champagne, a red carpet, fish tanks, smoke machines, and more so they are perfect for a special occasion or a typical day or night on the town.  Of course, with this tour your day will be anything but typical!

A unique spin on the limo ride concept is the VIP Street Rod Limo Grand Tour of Los Angeles.  Your tour will begin in a 1923 Ford T Roadster Limo, which will take you to the most exclusive shops in the area on the famous Rodeo Drive.  The tour also features celebrity homes in Beverly Hills and Bel-Air including those of Al Pacino, Madonna, and George Clooney.

When you are looking for your day to take a spooky turn, check out the Deluxe Haunted Ghost Tour in San Diego.  Your “Ghost Coach” will take you on a 90-minute night tour of haunted San Diego.  Of course it wouldn’t be much of a ghost tour if you stayed in the coach the whole time, so be prepared to get out and stretch your legs as you walk to documented haunted spots.  You will also gain admission to the William Heath Davis House, located in the Gaslamp Quarter.  The tour is completely guided, and as you can imagine it is packed with theatrics.

No matter what kind of nontraditional transportation you choose, your tour will be filled with excitement, incredible scenery, and priceless information.  Reserve your tickets online and save $5 on each adult ticket.

Spending a Night in ‘Gateway City’

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Newark is the most populated city in New Jersey.  At about 5 miles west of Manhattan and 2 miles north of Staten Island, it is centrally located and allows for easy access to the Tri-State area which consists of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.  Newark is a transportation hub, with its significant air, rail, road, and ship traffic, and it is a major gateway into the Northeastern portion of the United States as a whole.  Because of this, the city has become aptly known as ‘Gateway City.’ The city of Newark is in an optimal location for workday commuters to New York City and the Philadelphia area is easily accessible as well.  For that reason, many decide to dwell in the Newark area as a more cost-efficient alternative to living within the borders of New York City itself.

There have been a lot of rebuilding and revitalization efforts put forth in the Newark area.  The New Jersey Performing Arts Center has brought in an estimated 1.6 million people since its opening in 1997.  The facility, which cost $180 million, has helped to breathe new life into a city that was once on the decline.  The construction of the structure sparked a building spike in the area, including the creation of Riverfront Stadium, home of the Newark Bears, and the Prudential Center for the New Jersey Devils.  The Passaic River waterfront is also being redone so that it will soon provide direct access to the river.

For a night out with the family, catch a show at Medieval Times.  This show provides fun for all ages and is a great activity to do whether you are new to the area or have lived there for most of your life.  Another nighttime option is to make your way into Manhattan for a Broadway show or catch the City Lights Dance Party Cruise from New York.  This is a very popular option for many, as the balanced combination of music and sights makes for a very pleasant cruising experience.

As you can see, there is a lot more on offer in Newark than perhaps anyone would have initially thought.  To see a complete list of activities and tours available in the area, check out www.newarktours.net.

An experience unlike any other is Boston Duck Tour and it all begins as you board your sightseeing vehicle, the “DUCK.”  The “DUCK” is an authentic WWII amphibious, meaning it can drive in land and water, vehicle that has been renovated for your comfort.  As Boston is the birthplace of freedom, it is only fitting that you see sights that reflect this while touring Boston.  The golden-domed State House, built on land owned by John Hancock, is highlighted during the tour.  Other locations that will be sighted are Bunker Hill, Boston Common – the oldest park in the country, and Copley Square.  Just when you think the tour has ended and you have seen all Boston has to offer, “SPLASHDOWN” hits.  The DUCK will splash right into the Charles River giving you the chance you receive an incredible view of Boston and Cambridge skylines.
