Explore the Mayan Temples & Ruins of Lamanai on a Safari Adventure

cialis generic order online problem

Remember the good ol’ action-adventure 90′s Nickelodeon show Legends of the Hidden Temple? Only one of the greatest shows ever made. The show centered around a fictional Mayan Temple that was loaded with lost rich stuff protected by mysterious temple guards. Teenage contestants would team up to tackle historical trivia, battle the physical challenges, then brave the temple labyrinth in search of the treasures. Anyway, our Lamanai & the New River Safari from Belize City reminds me of said show… but in REAL LIFE! YES.

Riverboat Ride on the New River

Lamani & the New River Safari is one of the most popular tours in Belize. The drive up the Northern Highway brings you to Tower Hill, where you board a riverboat and head up the New River. While traversing the many little creeks and lagoons, it is easy to encounter hawks, kites and falcons. Dainty Jacanas lightly walk on the lily pads while the crocodiles bask in the morning sunlight.

Lamanai Jaguar Temple

At the entrance to the New River Lagoon, the ruins of Lamanai (Maya for Submerged Crocodile) rise into view. While touring this site, huge masks depicting dead rulers and gods seem to materialize out of the rainforest, amid the chatter of birdlife and the haunting call of the Howler Monkeys. Your guide will point out the Copal and Ramon trees, which were of great importance in ancient times.

High Temple in Lamanai

Those up to a challenge can climb to the High Temple Lookout in Lamanai

Go Take A Hiking Tour!

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Enjoy a variety of hiking trips worldwide!

Everyone knows that exercise is excellent for you. Research shows that exercise helps to fend off heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, burns calories, alleviates depression, keeps your mind sharp, and can even slow the aging process. But really — how enticing is the treadmill?? Do you really want to see some of the unsightly spandex in the gym? How about the stuffy space? How about paying exorbitant amounts for such self-punishment? I’ll take a gamble at a “no” there. Why “tune out” with more escapist TV and music while you tone your tendons? Personally, I would rather “tune in” to nature, the smell of flowers and trees, the view of mountains and forests and waterfalls, and getting back in touch with your thoughts and surroundings. And if you’re the super-adrenaline-daring type, hiking up mountains is a major calorie annihilator! There are better ways to get and stay in shape, get some FRESH air, and have a great time than becoming the proverbial hamster in a wheel, travel friends. I’ll even give you permission to blare Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” in your eardrums, if you need some extra motivation to get moving. Give yourself a REAL escape – lace up your hiking boots and go take a Hiking Tour!
