A Day in the Glades

Yesterday we mentioned our collaboration with Pola from Jetting Around. It was a wonderful union, indeed.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to Nola, of New Take Travel (name similarities are purely coincidental – yet cool, nonetheless). Like the rest of us, Nola’s got quite the passion for travel, and we were so grateful for the opportunity to arrange her Everglades Adventure in Fort Lauderdale.

Port Everglades & All Its Glory

Now, Miami may be South Florida’s social hub, but Fort Lauderdale is like the overlooked stepchild, whose beauty and brains everyone fails to notice. The beach views are outright gorgeous, the nightlife is diverse and spirited, and in my opinion, the people are more relaxed and friendly than in Miami. Yes, the cities are only a short drive away from each other, but there’s a noticeable difference between the two. For anyone who has ever been to New York, think about the characteristics of Manhattan compared to those of Staten Island (that might be a more extreme analogy, but hey… you get the point).

Hooray for Fort Lauderdale! If you plan to take a trip to Miami soon, we insist you also schedule a visit to Fort Lauderdale. While you’re there, check out some swampy goodness in the Everglades. For Nola, we arranged a full-day sightseeing adventure, complete with a hotel pick-up and licensed guide. Her thoughts:

This tour is an efficient way to see a lot of highlights unique to Florida. I went home knowing I’d seen some major sights and had the unique experiences I’d hoped for, but didn’t have to give up days of Rest & Relaxation to do it.

You can read all about her experience and see more pictures here. She goes into great detail, so feel free to read all about it!

For more Everglades sightseeing options, check here and here. You can even book a private excursion, if you’d like some intimate time with the alligators (might be a nice little Valentine’s Day treat).

Happy travels!

So here’s the truth: I was in and around Fort Lauderdale the week before I took this tour. I took a wrong turn on a highway and got lost in what appeared to be Everglades nothingness. Without the tour I would have had NO CLUE what was out there. Instead, had this fabulous day and left with a great appreciation for it all! Thanks so much!
