Toronto Double-Decker Bus Tours

If you want to see the city of Toronto but want to call your own shots, take the Toronto Hop On Hop Off City Tour.  This option combines the knowledge and skill of a professional tour guide with the convenience of picking and choosing which spots to explore.  You have the luxury of getting on and off the bus to have a closer look at an area, and you can rejoin the tour at any time within 3 touring days.  This allows you to see what you want, skip what you don’t, and pick up where you left off.  It is perfect for those who are in town for a conference or to visit loved ones since you can fit it into your schedule whenever you have time.

This double-decker tour does not disappoint.  The bus has two loops, one running north to south and the other east to west.  Each loop has some distinctive stops, so some might decide to take both, one each day. On the north-south loop, one of the highlights is the stop at Casa Loma, a beautiful castle on a hill and the estate of a well-known Toronto financier.  Guests also appreciate some time at the Entertainment and Fashion Districts as well as the Toronto Music Garden.  On the east-west loop you will want to pay particular attention to Little Italy, Chinatown, and Koreatown where there are some great buys and of course mouth-watering food.  Take the opportunity to hop off the bus at some of these points if you decide you want to spend some more time there; it is very easy to find the bus again and hop back on to continue the tour.

The touring experience on the Hop On Hop Off City Tour is unbeatable and is highly recommended to anyone visiting the Toronto area that needs a little guidance on how to get around and on popular points of interest.  Tours are offered year-round with pick-up at Toronto area hotels and other designated stops.

Stellar 2009 Lineup at the Grand Ole Opry

What do Carrie Underwood, Trace Adkins, Dierks Bentley, and Darryl Worley have in common? Not only are they mega-stars, but they are all scheduled to grace the stage of the Grand Ole Opry this season. The Opry has a killer lineup this year, and country music fans who can definitely should make it a priority to get over to Nashville to catch a show.

Tuesday Night Opry is back in session, and several notable performers will be appearing, including Charlie Daniels, Diamond Rio, and Craig Morgan. The Opry also recently kicked off a new Thursday night series called Opry Country Classics, which showcases some of the most groundbreaking country music that paved the way for country artists and made the genre as well-loved and appreciated as it is today.

Since its start as a radio show in 1925, the Grand Ole Opry - originally known as WSM Barn Dance - has been a major launching off point for country music performers, giving birth to many of today’s brightest stars. Many performers feel that they owe their start in the business to the Opry, and in a lot of ways they are right. The platform that the venue provides for artists is unparalleled and the exposure they are given is hard to duplicate anywhere else. Many a life has been transformed by experiences on the famous stage, and I suspect that this will continue far into the future.

To secure tickets to the show of your choice, it is imperative that you book early. The Opry is a big seller among locals and visitors to Nashville, and the window of opportunity for getting tickets is pretty narrow. Regardless of when you decide to visit, it is sure to be an evening to remember. One of the best ways to secure tickets is through http://www.nashvillesightseeing.com or http://viptickets.us.

In New York, the Sky is the Limit!

Traveling with kids to the Big Apple sometimes requires creative planning, especially when looking for something unique to do that doesn’t involve endless hours of walking as tourist trips often do.  Since children are often easily bored, you will need something that can hold a child’s attention but that will not last all day.  Luckily, there are plenty of options in the city that can fit both your interests and your schedule.

On the Manhattan Sky Helicopter Tour, you and your children will be thrilled as you hover over Yankee Stadium, and you will likely be taken aback by the outstanding aerial views of Central Park and the New York City skyline.  Along the way there are some amazing photo ops as you see and experience the exquisite city scenes you could only have dreamed about.Manhattan is unlike any other city, and you are able to literally have a bird’s-eye view of it, all in about 15 minutes.  You will feel light as feathers as you make your way around the city.  Watch for the look of wonder on the faces of all the children and you will know that you planned your day just right.

Tours run every half hour from 11:00 am – 3:30 pm so you are able to pick the time that works best for your group.  I will point out, however, that helicopter tours in New York book up fast.  It is best to plan well in advance of your trip so your dates of choice will not be sold out.  You definitely don’t want to miss out on this once in a lifetime experience!

Take a self-guided tour and visit the paved main trail for educational exhibits on these monstrous redwoods.

For an excellent combination of nature and nurture, take the Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour by Bus.  After an hour in Muir Woods, travel along a coastal road to Sausalito where you will be able to shop and enjoy the view from the bay or stop in a gallery or two.  Sausalito, located just north of the Golden Gate Bridge, is home to some of the country’s wealthiest citizens, so on your travels make sure to take notice of the fabulous mansions along the way.
