See the Badlands of South Dakota

You will find a vast array of vacation fun while visiting the Black Hills and Badlands of South Dakota.  Within the legendary pine clad mountains you will find six national parks, 101 miles of scenic highway, waterfalls, wildlife, renowned trails, streams to fish for trout and numerous Old West landmarks.

Rapid City Tours provides tours, activities and attraction tickets to the Black Hills and the wonderful areas surrounding it.  You can visit Mount Rushmore, explore the Crazy Horse Memorial, take a train to the beautiful Black Hills and Badlands, or kayak down the Missouri River.  With so many amazing opportunities at your disposal, you will have the most incredible vacation of your life!

The most popular tour offered by Rapid City Tours is the Mount Rushmore & Crazy Horse Tour by Bus.  The first stop along this fun tour is the Borglum Historical Center.  Here you will see art work and learn the history of Gutzon Borglum, the sculptor of Mount Rushmore.

After a look around the museum, it is then time for you to see the “Shrine of our Democracy.”  The sight of Mount Rushmore is simply stunning.  It is hard to believe that something so big, so realistic, so impressive can really be sitting right in front of you.  The faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln seem to gaze at the beautiful land surrounding them with pride.

After viewing Mount Rushmore, you will then visit the Crazy Horse Memorial, the world’s largest mountain carving.  It has been a work in progress since 1948 and still has a long way to go.  If you think Mount Rushmore is big, then just wait until you see this carving as it is 10 times the size of Rushmore!

Your tour isn’t completed after seeing Crazy Horse because there is still time to drive down Needles Highway where you will ride through many rock tunnels and 14 miles of rock formations.  You also get to see Iron Mountain Road where the tunnels frame the faces of Mount Rushmore.  It is an amazing experience getting to ride down these world renowned roads!

If you want to imagine something brilliant and fun then board the Black Hills 1880 Train!  This locomotive offers a true western experience which nothing else can compare.  The tour offers several different variations of this tour as it departs from both Keystone and Hill City and can either be one-way or round trip.

As you ride the rugged landscape you can picture yourself back in the Old West.  You will be riding in a vintage train dating back to the late 1800s and witnessing steeping mountains, rolling hills and seemingly infinite breathtaking views all around you.  It is an enjoyable and memorable experience that everyone visiting the area should try!

Whether you want to experience a different time or see a piece of the nation’s history that reflects on our lives today, your trip to South Dakota is one to be cherished forever.  Make your dream vacation come true by visiting Rapid City Tours at www.rapidcitytours.com today!

Photo Opportunities Abound in Brazil

Brazil is the largest and most populated country in South America.  It is also the only Portuguese-speaking nation in the Americas.  There are, not surprisingly, many activities to suit your fancy, whether you are interested in taking a scenic bicycle tour, taking in a show, or taking it all in on a helicopter tour over Rio de Janeiro.  Whatever your mood, there is sure to be a tour or activity that is a perfect match.

If variety is what you are looking for, check out the Rio Special Tour, which includes the Botanical Gardens, Maracanã, and the MAC Museum in Rio de Janeiro.  The Botanical Gardens feature approximately 7,000 species of tropical plants.  Founded in 1808, it serves as both a popular attraction for tourists and a research institute.  You cannot miss the towering royal palms, which stand at about 100 feet tall.   Maracanã, one of the world’s largest stadiums, currently seats 95,000 people who come to watch one of the many soccer clubs in Rio de Janeiro compete.  It is currently slated to be the site of the 2014 World Cup.  A visit to the MAC Museum, which houses over 1,000 paintings and sculptures from local artists, will satisfy your artistic desires.  Designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1991 and completed in 1996, this flying saucer shaped building draws in many an art connoisseur and the views of Rio are out of sight.

For those looking for a peaceful drive through a placid setting, the Sugar Loaf Cable Car Tour is a must.  Ride up above the trees and peer down at the gorgeous sights below.  Take a mental picture of the sparkling Guanabara Bay and catch a great view of Copacabana Beach.  You will also see the Rio-Niteró Bridge and Corcovado Hill along the way.

For a more active look at beautiful Rio de Janeiro, take a historic walking tour.   On this tour, you will visit the São Bento Monastery, a Benedictine complex where Gregorian chants are still recited on Sundays.  This incredible building was completed in 1641.  Also on the agenda is the Candelaria, Uruguaiana Street, and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Brazil is a wonderful place to visit, whether you have a few days or a few weeks to do it.  For more ideas on how to make the most of your trip, visit www.toursinbrazil.com.  You will be so glad that you decided to incorporate these fun and educational activities into your vacation.

Enter the Vast Wilderness of Yosemite National Park

Yosemite National Park was one of the first wilderness parks in the United States.  It is best known for its waterfalls and you will find within the park deep valleys, vast meadows, giant archaic sequoias and endless wonderful wilderness.

Yosemite Tours helps provide sightseeing tours, attractions and transportation to Yosemite National Park.  You can tour the area by van, bus and train.  In addition to activities within the park, Yosemite Tours also offers vacations in San Francisco because it is so close.

The most popular tour we provide is the Yosemite One-Day Tour by Bus from San Francisco.  You will venture into the ample wilderness in a large, comfy motor coach with giant windows so you can catch all the wonderful scenery around you.  You will pass the Sierra Foothills where the Forty-Niners panned for gold in the 1840s and ‘50s.  When you enter the 716,266 acre National Park, you will be left speechless by some of the world’s most stunning scenery.

One of the most spectacular things you will see there is El Capitan.  This is a 3,000 foot tall vertical rock formation in the Sierra Nevada mountain range.  You will notice that there will be people climbing it as it is one of rock climber’s favorite challenges.

Another memorable sight is the double cataract waterfall, Bridal Veil Falls.  It is not only beautiful in the summer when the waters are rushing incredibly fast, but in the winter it is just as appealing.  There is an icefall to the right of the falls that attracts many experienced ice climbers and it is quite a sight!

Yosemite Falls, another one of the waterfalls in the park, is the highest measured waterfall in North America and one of the world’s tallest measuring at 2,425 feet.  It flows between November and July but it peaks in May so if that is when you are planning on visiting, you are in for a treat!  You can walk to the Lower Yosemite Fall (it actually has three separate falls) or hike to the top if you have time later as it takes a full day.

When you fall in love with Yosemite National Park, you will definitely come back because there is even more to do and see.  Yosemite has even more waterfalls, trails to hike, horseback riding, rock climbing, fishing, biking, rafting and additional tours of the park.

To reserve your trip to the park, visit www.yosemitetours.us today!

Verde Canyon Railroad Tours

On the Verde Canyon Railroad Excursion, professional tour guides will provide information on the area’s history, geology, archaeology, and wildlife while also covering the Indian background of the canyon.  Throughout the year there are several specially themed holiday tours.  At Christmas there is the Santa Train, where Santa and Mrs. Clause make a special appearance for the children’s enjoyment.  There is also the Throw Mama and Papa on the Train, where mothers and fathers ride free on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, respectively.  On July 4th there is the Firecracker Express and on Cinco de Mayo, the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta Train.  These are all fabulous excuses to celebrate while enjoying a relaxing ride along the scenic trails of the Verde Canyon Railroad route.  The viewing cars are open-air, allowing passengers to experience the sights and smells of this gorgeous area as they move through each breathtaking scene.

The Verde Canyon Railroad, near Clarksdale, Arizona, is just southwest of Sedona.  It was originally built to support copper mines in Jerome, Arizona and went from 60,000 annual passengers in 1996 to over a million as of 2005.  Verde Canyon is the home of the bald eagle, our national symbol, and can only be reached by rail.  Passengers aboard the train will pass through rugged cliffs and near ancient Sinagua ruins dating back as far as 600 A.D. as they make their way in between two national forests, over old-fashioned trestles, and through a 680-foot manmade tunnel.  They will be surrounded by wildlife and beautiful greenery throughout the four hour trip to and from Perkinsville Ranch.

For a unique nighttime viewing experience, take a ride on the Verde Canyon Railroad Starlight Express and see the canyon under the stars, alive with nocturnal wildlife.  This tour takes place on specified days from June through September.  It takes the same route as the Verde Canyon Railroad Excursion only this time you are seeing the canyon as it transitions between daylight and dusk.  Enjoy your travels aboard one of these fine trains, riding coach or first class and remember to book early to ensure availability.
